Ad oggi, il progetto illuminotecnico è ancora considerato non indispensabile, spesso lasciato a margine del progetto di architettura, e quando è presente non garantisce risultati accettabili. Più volte è affidato a persone poco qualificate che tendono ad illuminare senza progettare o considerano la luce un elemento da valutare in maniera superficiale e poco approfondito. Alla fine l'opera architettonica risulta illuminata, ma questo non significa a fatto che l’illuminazione sia stato davvero “progettata”.

Approccio sbagliato! La luce deve essere progettata! Ed essendo un fattore che maggiormente concorre alla riuscita di un progetto di architettura, deve essere progettata con attenzione, e perciò essere trattato con la stessa competenza e professionalità che tutte le altre parte.

Questo detto, il progetto solo non può garantire la qualità del risultato: ci sarà sempre buoni progetti e progetti meno buoni. La progettazione illuminotecnica essendo una prestazione concettuale non è sufficiente a definire un valore qualitativo della luce, ma piuttosto una serie di tappe che portano al risultato desiderato. Alla fine è nella sensibilità e la serietà del designer che si troveranno non solo le fattori determinanti per la diversità e l’unicità del progetto, ma sopratutto le basi indispensabili alla sua qualità.

Succede tropo spesso che progettisti o designer, una volta definito un proprio “stile”, si trovino ad applicarlo ripetitivamente ad ogni situazione. O peggio, che lasciano al computer il compito di definire la soluzione giusta. La ricchezza di un buon progetto nasce invece sempre di un’approccio con mente aperta, lontano da soluzioni preconfezionate, per affrontarlo con rinnovata curiosità e spirito critico.

La nuova tecnologia dei LED ad alta potenza rappresenta una rivoluzione nel settore dell’illuminotecnica ed uno challenge per chi è alle prese con la scelta di sistemi di illuminazione per prendere decisioni consone e corrette.

Allo stesso tempo, spinge un’occasione per modificare l’approccio al tema progettuale. Diventa necessario praticare una ricerca continua e sperimentare con il desiderio di mettersi in discussione. Noi, che utilizziamo solo i LED, possiamo promuoverle perché abbiamo la conoscenza della loro tracciabilità e della loro genesi. Sappiamo inoltre fino a che punto si può spingere questa tecnologia, guardando in mente che si tratta di un’illuminazione elettronica, le cui applicazioni vanno ben oltre quelli che possono dare gli interruttori e i fili dell’elettricista.

Così possiamo proporre soluzioni a LED pensate nell’esclusivo interesse del cliente e del risultato, ed alo stesso tempo intese a promuovere una stretta collaborazione con tutti attori coinvolti nel progetto.
Il nostro approccio consente risultati di qualità superiore a quelli forniti gratuitamente dai costruttori e dai rivenditori di apparecchi d’illuminazione nonché un controllo dei costi in tutta trasparenza che ripaga ampiamente il costo della progettazione.

Un'illuminazione aderente a un progetto non e fatta dai soliti corpi illuminanti e lampade scelte soltanto per il loro design, o più spesso la “fama” dello loro designer, ma e un illuminazione dove l'essenza è la luce stessa e la sua qualità.

Once you introduce LED lighting in an environment and accidentally forget your halogen lights switched on, you realize how much of an alteration is brought to your ambiance, whether public, professional or private. All that with damaging impact on the individuals moods.
Experience proves it to me every day that in the very near future, the real connoisseurs will no longer tolerate and thrive in ambiances with lights that distort colours in their immediate surroundings.
More and more, avoiding the "yellowing effect" of halogen lights and their damaging colour rendering, will be a prerequisite for any authentic management of space.

Light Emitting Diodes show "true colours" and are not to be mixed with halogen or other incandescent lights of any sort.

Both public and professionals alike were attracted to our stand by "kissimu 1™", the amazing steel structure projected by Aliki Polydor and illuminated with high-power LEDs. In times where the benefits and possibilities of LED lighting are starting to make their way outside the specialists’ circles, this extremely eye-catching display of power LEDs capabilities drew a lot of interest. The RGB lighting installed within "kissimu 1™", allowed for a variety of colourful scenery.

By means of this particular set up,liki liki LED lighting design managed to put forth its message and reveal the high quality of white light that can be obtained. And the message was clear : besides offering high-energy efficiency, LED lighting is the ultimate solution when compared to traditional lighting sources that were used in the surrounding stands, specially with halogen lighting.
It was rather easy to demonstrate, by contrast, how colors can be distorted by yellowish hues produced by that halogen lighting, and furthermore its repercussions with the amount of heat generated in the environment.

In comparison, the ambiance inside our high in lumen "kissimu 1™" steel structure, reminded the public of a cool bright day, with a subtle midday light coupled with a really fresh atmosphere.
This installation offered the grounds for liki liki to present its "patanjali™" floor lamp and perfume difuser designed by Aliki Polydor, its founder. Ideal for homes and spas.

environmentally friendly: Switching to low energy, solid state lighting benefits the environment. LEDs consume far less energy than today's standard light bulbs, leading to greatly reduced energy costs. LEDs also require far less energy to manufacture than other light sources, reducing their environmental impact even further.

economy: Despite their initial high price, the use of LED lighting can offer significant cost savings over time, not only in terms of reduced energy consumption, but maintenance as well.

long life: Even in hostile conditions, the typical working life of an LED can be several tens of thousands of hours; most domestic bulb filaments expire after just a couple of thousand hours and even compact fluorescent lamps come nowhere near the working life of LEDs. Also, LEDs don't suddenly burn out - they slowly fade over time - giving ample opportunity to plan replacements - several years with normal use and possibly even decades. Even at the end of its working life, a LED will still be giving some light.

strength and reliability: The filament in an incandescent bulb is very fragile, easily broken by a sudden shock or "soft" drop. Fluorescent tubes are made of thin glass. A LED is encased in virtually unbreakable high strength optical grade resin. There is no glass or filament to break, making LED light sources perfect for rugged or demanding environments, or installations where access is difficult.

improved safety and security: The low heat and low voltages associated with LEDs make them a far safer source of light. No glass to break, no white-hot filament, no flames and no noxious fumes.

design flexibility: The intrinsically safe nature of LEDs, combined with their long term reliability and small size, make LEDs a lighting tool of unprecedented versatility.

luminous efficacy: Light emissions from LEDs are inherently directional, reducing the need for reflectors and diffusers that can trap light, so using LEDs can potentially deliver light more efficiently to the intended location.
Fluorescent and incandescent lamps emit light in all directions. Much of the light produced by the lamp is lost within the fixture, reabsorbed by the lamp, or escapes from the fixture in a direction that is not useful for the intended application. It is not uncommon for 40-50% of the total light output of the lamp to be lost.

dimming: When used in applications where dimming is required, LEDs do not change their color tint as the current passing through them is lowered, unlike incandescent lamps, which turn yellow.

UV emissions/infrared: LEDs produce no UV radiation and their light beam contains little heat, making them ideal for illuminating objects, such as works of art.

Trends in lighting technology will probably involve further and considerable implication of design in studying and planning our environments.

Today space implies moods, and therefore "lighting" should remain central without imposing itself. If used wrongly and without adequate harmonization of elements, it can actually create opposite effects. This applies to both public and private space. A building which is heavily lit in a public area might provoke a sense of "anomy" or unwanted excitement. A home with inappropriate lighting might not offer the right soothing atmosphere longed for by its owners.

Light has strong repercussions on mood. We are talking about the five senses : all the senses interact to create a mood.

Designing "light" means taking into account "all the senses"- not just the visual - and obviously relying on technology and its progress. When designing light today we should look for authenticity and bear in mind the diversity and multiplicity in human expression. With light's "play" we are able to construct an environment which will cater for many moods and different situations. A lighting system can thus be contextualized depending on the commissioner's preferences, personality, goals and moods.

We are delving into a new language with the help of "light". Each lighting allows to express our "inner self" and its many identities.
